Wisconsin Optometric Association (WOA) encourages simple eye care precautions during sun exposure
According to the American Optometric Association’s (AOA) American Eye-Q® survey, only one-third of Americans consider UV protection as the most important factor when purchasing sunglasses. Whether it’s cloudy or sunny, summer or winter, the Wisconsin Optometric Association urges Americans to take measures to protect their eyes from the sun’s UV rays in order to decrease the risk of eye diseases and disorders.

The Wisconsin Optometric Association recognizes two optometrists annually at the September convention with an "Optometrist of the Year Award" and a "Young Optometrist of the Year Award". According to new information from the American Optometric Association’s (AOA) annual American Eye-Q® survey, one in three respondents aged 55 or older report not taking any steps to cope with age-related eye and vision problems.

The Wisconsin Optometric Association (WOA) urges consumers to be aware of the serious risks these accessories pose to eye health.

NASA Purchases Invention from Northern Wisconsin Optometrist
Optometry reaches new heights with an invention by Wisconsin optometrist Dr. Paul Filar. Dr. Filar’s invention, an attachment to a modified digital camera that takes pictures and video of the retina and optic nerve, captured the attention of NASA officials earlier this month and ended up onboard the space shuttle Discovery that launched Friday, August 28, 2009.
