WOA Spring Seminar
Thank You for Your Support at the 2015 WOA Spring Seminar!
The 2015 WOA Spring Seminar was held at the Olympia Resort in Oconomowoc, WI on April 15-16, 2015. Over 160 doctors of optometry attended this event for quality CE provided by Drs. John McGreal, Jerome Sherman, Neal Barney, and John Vukich. Education was offered in the areas of pharmaceuticals, systemic disease, glaucoma, posterior segment, and perioperative management of ophthalmic surgery. The exhibit hall was filled, with nearly 50 companies in attendance to demonstrate their products and services for the benefit of the optometric profession. This year’s event even had several pre-optometry students attend a special meeting at seminar with WOA President Dr. Eric Paulsen and Executive Vice President Mr. Peter Theo. Alcon Laboratories and Allergan provided much-appreciated educational grant sponsorship for the 2015 WOA Spring Seminar, and WOA also thanks Cherry Optical, AssureAbility, and VSP Optics Group for additional sponsorship.
Dr. McGreal came to us from St. Louis, where he is Director of Missouri Eye Associates. Doctors in attendance appreciated his informative nature as a lecturer and his willingness to present new technologies and developments in optometry. One doctor simply stated, “I loved this class!” Dr. Sherman is a Distinguished Teaching Professor in the Clinical Optometric Science Department at the SUNY State College of Optometry in New York. Doctors praised his grasp of optometric topics, often remarking that he was “very knowledgeable.” Drs. Barney and Vukich provided a local flavor, being MDs from the Madison area. Dr. Barney is Professor CHS at the UW School of Medicine and Public Health in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, and Dr. Vukich is a practicing ophthalmologist in the Davis Duehr Dean Department of Ophthalmology. They received comments such as “Excellent info and delivery, Dr. Vukich!” and “Neal Barney is great.” WOA thanks each of our speakers.
Spring Seminar is one of the major CE events held by the WOA each calendar year in order to help optometrists earn the 30 hours of continuing education required to maintain licensure in Wisconsin. Like the WOA Convention and Annual Meeting, the event offers a full exhibit hall. Spring Seminar is typically held during the month of April. WOA would like to sincerely thank all doctors in attendance, our speakers, exhibitors, and sponsors for making this year’s Spring Seminar successful. We hope to see you at next year’s event! Thank you!
